The material
We choose the hide first. The bag comes after.
Avion Backpack is cut from Bombay NDM + Brown Croco leather — real hide, not a plastic film printed to look like one. The grain you see is the grain of the animal, which is why no two bags are identical, and why it holds its shape where a coated bag creases and flakes.

The grain is in the leather, so it cannot peel off it.

Look at the pores
Real hide has irregular pores and no two patches identical. A pattern repeating every few centimetres is a printing roller.
Check the cut edge
Leather shows fibre through the edge paint. PU shows a clean fabric backing — a woven layer you can see.
Press with your thumb
Leather creases around the press and settles back. PU stays smooth, or wrinkles and keeps the wrinkle.
One drop of water
On an inside seam, leather darkens as it absorbs and dries back. On PU the drop just sits there.
